Abstract
The performance of the individual in the academics and other social sphere depends upon personality and environmental factors. Adjustment of the individual is a motivating force for fulfilling the academic desires and may help in achieving success in life. The study was planned to assess the adjustment of students opting for a teaching career and undergoing professional training. The analysis of data shows that that there is significant difference in the home adjustment dimension of the govt. and private teacher trainees. The data also reveals that there is significant difference in the health adjustment dimension of the govt. and private teacher trainees. It was found that there is significant difference in the social adjustment dimension of the govt. and private teacher trainees in the Chandīgarh in favour of the private institution. The data interpretation reveals that there is no significant difference in the emotional adjustment dimension of the govt. and private teacher trainees and it was also observed that there is no significant difference in the educational adjustment dimension of the govt. and private teacher trainees in the Chandīgarh. The study indicates that the teacher trainees have differential adjustment in different dimension as per the adjustment inventory scores. The results show that the there is significant difference in the home, health and social adjustment of the teacher trainees of govt. and private institutions of Chandigarh. The study also indicates that there is no significant difference in the emotional and educational adjustment of the teacher trainees of govt. and private institutions of Chandigarh.
